Michael Longrider began playing flutes in 2003 after purchasing his first flute from David Searching Owl. At the 2004 Honor the Spirit Pow-Wow, Michael was overheard playing his flute in the woods by Richard Soaring Owl. Michael accepted an offer to join for an after hour open-mike that evening. At this open-mike Michael played for Richard Soaring Owl, David Searching Owl, Peter Searching Owl, & Ron Perry. At the end of the evening Michael was invited to perform for the public on the second day of the Pow-Wow. Although Michael is not native born he feels his place is walking down the good red road.
